The core purpose of the BBC Wildlife Fund is to raise awareness and funds to save threatened wildlife and places. In 2010 the fund has been supporting the work of the Albatross Task Force in Brazil through Projeto Abatroz to reduce seabird bycatch in South Atlantic fisheries, such as by encouraging the use of streamer or bird-scaring lines in longline fisheries.
